The Shih Tzu is #20 in the AKC Favorite Breed of 2023. It has kept at least in the top 20 since 2013. Not bad for only being in the AKC for 50 years. The Shih Tzu is part of the Toy Group and is a friendly dog to Adult and kids. They would rather just hang out and love and be loved all day long. The Shih Tzu was the quintessential dog for the Ming Dynasty.
